Nicolas Belfrage: Deep, virtually opaque. Opulent fruit on the nose, even more on the palate—rich, ripe, almost blousy—soupy but delicious (in present company) wine of some Brunello lovers’ dreams. Delicious in two years’ time, but where will it be in ten years? Past it, I suspect. 17
Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to pink, orange rim. Open, mature, spicy, black-fruit nose, with cinnamon and cloves. Full body, with huge tannins somehow balanced by the sweet black fruit. Young and lacking charm at this stage. 15.5
Andrew Jefford: Dense black-red. Close-grained and complex aromas, with lots of earthy richness, black-fruit purity, drive, and length; just a touch of reduction. Behind the blackberries and plums is a promise of honey and a warm summer wheat-chaff note. Very broad-beamed on the palate; deep, sweet, and long; magnificent tannins; poised yet broad. After the arrestingly ripe vigor and charm, the wine begins to subside with some of the warm forest, oak-leaf complexities that noble Tuscany promises. Outstanding. 17
