Despite its proximity to the Beaucastel vineyard, the indulgence afforded to the generic appellation allows the inclusion of Marsanne and Viognier (30% each) in the blend, the balance made up of Châteauneuf stalwarts Bourboulenc (30%) and Clairette (10%). Eight months’ aging in stainless steel and wood, and we have a most attractive wine: poached pear, spring flowers, a hint of nougat and lemon zest; balanced acidity but plenty of matière and grip on the finish. | 90
