Alex Hunt: Very Burgundian aromatics—smoke and redcurrant/rosehip notes—butt up against excess tannin. There’s quality in the fruit here, but it’s just not structurally balanced. 82
Andrew Jefford: Dark, dense black-red-purple. Powerfully aromatic, brooding and toasty-beefy-sweet aromas; you could almost drink the aromas. Rich and exciting, but a total contrast in every respect to [Château des Jacques Moulin-à-Vent Rochegrès]. Thick, vivid, exuberant, ripe, and deep on the palate, but to its credit it is the fruit that leads here and not oak or other extraneous interventions. A big, generous, exuberant, walloping whopper of a Moulin-à-Vent, but great fun withal. 91
Peter Liem: This is dominated by coffee-like aromas of oak, with a bold ripeness and firm tannin structure. It needs time to show its best, feeling overwhelmed by its wood at the moment. 88
