Simon Field: Nose rather closed, a hint reduced, with slightly dark earthy undertow; palate is broad, uncomplicated, quite high in alcohol, with Grenache exuberance, something a little more saturnine beneath with tight-knit compact tannins and an assured, elegant finish, tapered and dignified - 17.5
Alex Hunt: A glossy, cassis-and-eucalypt nose. Appealing if rather international. Quite marked extraction at this stage. But ultimately, there’s enough fruit to balance, and more complex character should emerge in a year or two - 15
John Livingstone-Learmonth: Dark robe; nicely broad, full blackberryled aroma, has a sunbeam of ripeness in it, with garrigue thyme, fennel herbs, violet: good purity. Nice and tasty, rolls off the palate well, with good drinkability and a pleasing simmer of power on the finish. Abundant, generous, very good. Local virtues here, with well-struck fruit and ripe tannin with life in it. Good length. Balance means it can be drunk now but will be more varied from 2014. To 2021 - 16.5
