Simon Field: Dense color, slightly savory nose, hints of fig and white pepper; palate is dense, the tannins broad and accommodating, a safety net in the wake of ripe, luxuriant fruit and a clean, mineral-scented backdrop. Digestif character noted; all in all, impressive - 17.5
Alex Hunt: There’s a wild, Mourvèdre-influenced side to this: elderberries and new leather. Chewy, warm-spicy palate leads nonetheless to characteristic mineral poise on the finish. A very neat narrative - 16.5
John Livingstone-Learmonth: Dark, thorough robe; broad nose that leans toward hearty; has a solid interior of prune/plum fruit. There is a serenity in the fruit that is appealing. The palate is also well filled and delivers plenty of energy, a broad canvas of black stone fruits with crisp running tannins emerging on the finish. Plenty in the glass, with time to arrange itself into an orderly sequence. This will be harmonious from 2014. Has typical Gigondas clarity in the clean finish, with ash notes in the aftertaste. To 2026 - 16
