Simon Field: Nose is rather baked; perhaps a cask sample? Palate a little one-dimensional, the fruit seemingly a little stretched, with notes of black tea and even Elastoplast coming to mind when one would much prefer to be describing ripe and unadulterated fruit. Ironically, on the second tasting, the fruit seems to have emerged—not overwhelmingly complex, but ripe and pleasing nonetheless - 15
Alex Hunt: Dark; quite closed, with a sense of meaty depth on the nose. The palate, too, is youthful and unevolved, without being overtly primary or fruit-dominated. There is genuine concentration here, while the tannin is both well proportioned and civilized in nature. This should drink very well in a few years’ time - 15.5
John Livingstone-Learmonth: Dark red; spritz traces. Stewed, gummy fruit air, Grenache leads the aromas, has a hangdog nature, not up. The palate shows the chalky infill of its limestone, which is a consistent thread through the palate and its berry fruit. Decant this to freshen it. Fruit spreads across it nicely. Its texture is plummy and quite supple, before the close-in of the tannins at the end. Granular aftertaste; not ready. From mid-2013. My score is for local feel. To 2020 - 15
