Simon Field: Deep pigmentation, then a pleasing savory aromatic, with hints of violet, tobacco, and autumn evenings. The palate maintains the floral integrity, with a clean, pleasing fruit profile dominated by loganberry and cassis, then finely etched tannins, ensuring longevity and focus. The ensemble is harmonious, with exemplary interplay between acidity, fruit, and tannin, and an alcohol level that defers to the benevolence of the vintage without attempting to subjugate its appeal - 17
Alex Hunt: Raisins and plum skins—a very rustic, rather baked aroma. The palate has some lift but is aldehydic and simple. Too much ripeness, too much oxygen, or both. Terroir is eclipsed here - 13.5
John Livingstone-Learmonth: Dark, filled-up robe; broad expanse of bouquet—ripples of rather powerful dark fruit here: black cherry, black raisin at its heart, a note of leather and tea dust. The palate rocks off on similarly powerful lines, sweeping up juiced fruit with shiny, sleek tannins that sit in its upholstery with some ease. Unbridled, a little wild, has a forceful nature, is pushed along. Country foods are suited to this muscular wine that is, indeed, from hot-stones vineyards. 2013–20 - 15
