Michael Schuster: Very mineral to smell, alongside the blackberry Cabernet; rich but taut, crisp in acidity, but well covered by the flesh, and with a fine, very firm tannin; graceful, fine-boned, close-grained, complex, and understated, but very tenacious; finely sinewy, with a beautiful fruit quality, pure and transparent, and long and sweet-red-fruit aromatic to finish. Refined long-term Calon. 2028–40. 92–94
Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Sensational presence in the mouth, with a particularly noble fruit and an extremely aristocratic texture, the first to come from the new winery. It competes with the premiers crus, as some of its peers! 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc—probably the highest proportion in the Médoc at this level of the classification, a fact that delights us—and 20% Merlot. 98
