Michael Schuster: Blackberry ripe to smell; rich and concentrated, firmly tannic and 2016 fresh in acidity; sweet to taste, long, vital, refreshing, very slightly chewy, but fine-grained and long across the palate for a cru bourgeois St-Estephe, and with lovely fragrant length to finish. Gorgeous wine, the best de Pez to date? 2024–35. 90–92
Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: The texture and length of a cru classé, a touch more “Merlot” than the appellation leaders. However, this is certainly the most promising wine among this château’s recent vintages and the first to echo the past’s great success, with an obviously superior precision in the vinification. 95–96
