Alex Hunt: One of the most varietally typical noses of the tasting! Raspberry purée, wet green leaves, pencils. Nicely balanced on the palate, fresh but not sinewy, this just loses its way on the finish, the purity succumbing to smoked bacon. Until then, excellent. 16
Andrew Jefford: Dark black-red. Fresh, inky vivacity: This is true Cab Franc. Lively and enticing. It has a sweet, perfumey quality that distinguishes it from the French examples, and that’s a very attractive difference, too. Lively, smooth, fresh yet sweetly glycerous. Attractive, varietally true, and crowd-pleasing at the same time—a difficult trick to pull off. Good wine, though not yet fine wine. 13.5
Simon Larkin: This deep wine has a nose of capsicum and ripe berry. Oddly sweet and savory, the bell-pepper character is overriding. Supple, simple, without much volume, this comes across in a similar vein to a mediocre Chilean Merlot, with a tarty fruit and powerful bell-pepper character. Sound; nothing more. 8
