Stephen Brook: Very deep red, some evolution. Sweet, refined, oaky nose, some coffee tones, a bit subdued now. Rich, very ripe and concentrated, cherries and blackcurrants, distinct coffee flavor. But high alcohol as well as charred oak gives this a hot, burnt tone that I find unappealing. Medium length. 13.5
Stephen Browett: Medium color with some fade, certainly not one of the darkest wines here. Fabulously exotic, earthy, sexy nose. Decadent and sweet but good acidity, too. Reminiscent of a great red Burgundy. Extremely complex, long and lingering. Silky. Lovely. A great success. 17.5
Michael Schuster: Dark red; sweet, scented, slightly high-toned nose, but promises a fine bouquet; elegantly balanced, refined middleweight with a very fine tannin; sweet, silky, and subtle in flavor; long in the mouth with a gently mouthcoating fragrance; flowing, complex and fine, and with excellent, scented length. The “warmth” of the year there, but a lovely fruit, and no excess dryness; very classy. Needs time, from 2013. 17.5
