Lighter ruby-pink color, with only slight bricking on the rim. The fragrance was fresh and focused and had a touch of spirit poking through, but lovely cocoa powder and black fruits as well. Medium-full weight, voluptuous and mercurial across the tongue, with a seamless lightness of being. Pure black cherry, anise, and pomegranate flavors, with a hint of bittersweet dark chocolate and raisins, which were simply sublime. The richness comes through from the very first sip, and the acidity kept it all in sync. A powerful Oporto bottling, and it’s always a distinct pleasure to taste this Port; my fourth time having the 1945 Taylor’s since February 3, 2019. There is no reason why a well- stored bottle like this can’t last for at least another two or three decades. Taylor’s 1945 is typically more captivating, but this was still a very solid Vintage Port. | 95+
