BUY THE WINE

Michael Schuster: Dense, floral/herbal Merlot-marked nose; full, fresh, finely firm, a rich constitution, and a firm but not coarse tannin; generous fruit at its heart, ripe, classy, complex, long, and fine to taste, a beautiful black-fruit sweetness, a gentle fleshiness, but all the time very Margaux in its finesse, transparency, and delicacy, and with lovely, fragrant length. Whether it is the quality of the 2016 fruit tannin, or the quality of the wood, the wine is less dominated by the tannins this year. A very fine Lascombes. 2028–45. 93–94

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Sensual unctuosity, very complete in its harmonious and attractive way. Velvety, subtle, and long in the mouth. 96
