Michael Schuster: Mid-gold; a fine nose, subtle and minerally; nicely balanced, fresh, middleweight Sauternes; intensely sweet, a gently mineral and racy midpalate, a clear, subtle botrytis complexity, and a lightly mineral impression behind the sweet fruit, too; long to taste, aromatic for the year, discreet and refined, and with excellent fruit and aroma length as well. A fine reflection of the class of this great terroir, with all the finesse, subtlety, and “race” of which it is clearly capable. One of the best Rayne Vigneau’s for a very long time, and really “fine” in the best sense of the word. A beauty. If this is indeed the final blend and if it can be captured like this in the bottle, then bravo! 93–96
Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Great sap, but in all the samples that were tasted, a bit less settled than its peers, at this stage a bit precocious, too precocious for a sweet wine. 96
