Andrew Jefford: Very deep purple-red: the darkest of the Brouilly cohort. Deep, creamy, almost blackcurrant liqueur. Quietly rewarding aromas, rather than exuberant and instantly showy. I’d guess there has been some subtle use of oak here, pulling the fruit back a little rather than actually putting its own stamp on the wine? Lots of pure, linear blackcurranty fruit on the palate in this calm, finely crafted and serious Brouilly, definitely intended for the cellar. I like it, and everything has been done with great subtlety; all that I miss is just a little youthful exuberance, which is such a winning trait in Beaujolais in general. Classy Brouilly, though, for sure. 92
Peter Liem: This feels rustic and unfocused, with a strangely pastry-like tone to the fruit. It’s thick and dense on the palate, lacking energy. 80
