Andrew Jefford: Dark black-red, with a riper nose than most: earth, spice, and tar. Some green freshness behind those elements, but it’s an aromatic profile that works well. A cascade of black-pastille fruit relieved by a little brisk tannin; spicy, deep, and long, even if fundamentally acidic. There’s lots to catch though, before the acidity becomes dictatorial. Now to 2020. 86
Michael Schuster: Red-fruit and lightly oaky nose; medium-full, crisp in acidity and firmly tannic. A fairly firm structure round a very limited fruit; red-fruit crisp in flavor, within a chewy tannin frame, and overall a relatively tough impression. Not bad, just a bit overambitious for the fruit in the year. That said, there is plenty of fruit, and this would certainly give pleasure with food on the table. 2020–27. 87
