Andrew Jefford: Dark black-red. Fresh-hewn oaky sweetness takes the lead over the fruit. Some bacon and leather: flamboyant, sweet appeal. Soft yet textured, with ample tannic wealth and very impressive ripeness: truly a soft and gratifying yet structured wine to drink right now. My only hesitation comes when I search around for the fruit core and struggle to find it: quiet black plum, loitering right at the back. A heroic ripening effort for the vintage, though, and I find the wine delicious. Now to 2022. 90
Michael Schuster: Ripe-fruited and lightly oaky on the nose; a gently rich constitution, especially in the vintage, fresh and finely tannic; ripe, savory, long to taste, a nice length and complexity, and long and aromatic to finish; the texture is relatively long-term firm, but the matter is there. Needs time. 2023–35+. 90
