Roy Hersh: Dark strawberry red with a pink meniscus. Austere medicinal nose initially, this had a huge metamorphosis and later presented an intense dried-floral fragrance with subtle herbs and spices. Medium-weight, clean and complex, with fresh acidity and fully resolved tannins. Exquisitely silky mouthfeel, loaded with fig and black plum flavors up front and cocoa layered in the mid-section, adding sweetness and depth to the gracefully long finish. Stunning for its age, it is an outstanding and surprising 1927!
