Roy Hersh: At the time, owned by Hunt Roope. Loads of sediment in these bottles. Light ruby with significant bricking on the edge, appropriately showing its age. Ethereal aromas of prune, leather, cinnamon stick, and sumptuous butterscotch. Wow! Medium-weight and velvety in the mouth, a marvelously opulent mid-palate with spicy red fruits, fleshy richness, and gentle tannins that translate to a long, complex finish. While the Tuke is fully mature, there is enough depth left in the tank to allow this to remain on a fine plateau and drink at this level for a minimum of another 10–15 years. Impressive but not surprising, as a 1931 Tuke VP consumed with friends in Denmark (October 2015) was remarkably similar qualitatively.
