Jesús Barquín: Yellow. Intensely biological; probably the one in the entire tasting (of 55) that most vividly displays aromas and flavors from the flor. Very didactic for beginners, too, though I must admit this is a style that I find a little heavy, of wines highlighting flor itself rather than the effect it has on the wine. 90
Andrew Jefford: Full green gold. Soft, pungent, creamy, and planty: flor and more. Supple, soft, open, harmonious and rich. Compared to our other Montilla, this is a little purer and more closely aligned to the flor ideal, whereas that other wine had more fruit and floral notes. This is saline, complete, long, and yet softly articulated: outstanding. The lack of fortification (and perhaps the different variety of origin) gives the wine an approachable, gourmet softness. Seek it out! 91
Peter Liem: Savory and stony, this is intense in flavor yet surprisingly delicate in body. It’s fragrant and inviting, with a hidden nuance and depth. 88
