Stephen Brook: Deep red. Lush cherry and mocha nose, but that can’t disguise a slight greenness. There’s a beguiling sweetness on the attack, balanced by firm underlying tannins. The acidity is less pronounced than in many of these reds, however, and the finish lacks some drive. A bit less oak may have allowed the fruit to shine out more. There’s something pedestrian here, and the fruit seems too manipulated. It’s young, of course, but I’m not persuaded it will all come together with more bottle age. Moderate length. 87
Andrew Jefford: Deep but not opaque. Sweet, slightly tinned fruits, lacking a little freshness and lift. As so often in this tasting, the palate is actually slightly better than the strange nose suggested, with riper and fresher fruit, some palpable harmony between the components, and some structuring tannins too. Good ripeness here; would work well with food. A creditable wine just held back by a lack of aromatic charm. 87
Peter Liem: The raspberry, blackberry, and black-cherry flavors are soft and pillowy, buttressed by gentle yet insistent tannins on the finish. This is harmonious and appealing, finishing with subtle length. 86
