Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Reticent, black-fruit nose, with a touch of Plasticine and a light herbal character. Medium-bodied, fresher and livelier than the nose suggests. Good acidity; doesn’t have a lot of depth but has some elegance and flair. Moderately persistent and already drinking well; quite good length. Not a top terroir—probably St-Emilion around Corbin, but could be western Pomerol. 16
Andrew Jefford: Relatively light and clear. Soft, gentle, light, delicate, and understated, but good ripeness; lots of teasing elegance here. Later sweetness and milk chocolate. Light, elegant, supple, and fresh, with very soft calfskin tannins and lovely purity of fruit. Sweet and ripe behind. A fine tobacco quality beginning to steal into the Merlot here. Probably a Pomerol, maybe Moueix style; but if it was St-Emilion, then something like a Magdelaine. Pomerol third terrace? 15.5
Hugh Johnson: More mature looking than [Gazin]. Slightly sour note, damson character and a caramel tone. A certain richness here; still primary fruit and unresolved tannin. Not long, and somehow a bit confected. 14.5
