Stephen Brook:Very deep red, slightly evolved. The nose is dense and not very forthcoming, but it’s also very ripe and fleshy, with plenty of sweet oak and blackberry fruit. Medium-bodied, this has a lightness of touch despite some firm tannins. It is understated, yet has a certain robustness. Although not a super-ripe style and a touch blunt, this is a solid 1999 that still has some lift on the finish and good length.
