Stephen Brook:Still has excellent depth of color. Bright, sweet, smoky nose, rich in secondary aromas such as leather, tobacco, and mint. Medium-bodied, supple, yet has some intensity and tightness, firm tannins but no harshness. An excellent 1981 that shows no sign of flagging and that has a piercing, spicy finish. (Also drunk a month earlier with a similar note and the same score.) Good length.
