Stephen Brook: Fairly deep red, with some garnet tones on the rim. Dumb nose, with some tobacco scents, and savory tones rather than overt fruit. There is a fine attack on the palate, which is lean and shows a slight tannic furriness. A touch pinched, and it is not clear that the wine will improve. Quite long, but it lacks generosity. 16–16.5
