Stephen Brook: Deep red, with less of the brick of the 1990. Vigorous, spicy nose, with cloves, leather, tobacco, cooked red fruits, and a hint of bacon. The palate is lively and vigorous, fresh and almost crisp, with excellent fruit. Tannic, but not obtrusively so, quite savory, and with ample energy, warmth, and depth of flavor. Good length. 17.5–18
