Stephen Brook: Fairly deep red, with brick tones. Rather closed and waxy on the nose, with some red-fruit aromas. There is a sweet attack, with freshness and intensity and no harsh tannins. Very ripe, almost candied, and while it may not have the acidity of some vintages, it is lively—clearly the result of minimal extraction to avoid the harsh tannins that affected most 1975s. Persistent, with a long, tangy finish. 17.5
