Serena Sutcliffe: Another hot, dry summer and small crop. 13.6% ABV. This was one of the great wines of the tasting, and for me, it rivaled the1949—stylistically so different, but both intrinsically wonderful. Deep roasted-cloves nose. Incredible meaty/sweet taste. Tremendous texture and flesh. Marvelous, thick wine, as Cheval Blanc always is from a hot vintage, and yet so juicy. Total depth and gravitas.
