Jasper Morris: Selected by Michel Bettane as one of France’s wines of the century, this vintage really helped put Pascal Marchand and the Domaine du Comte Armand on the map. Served at dinner a month previously, this wine was really starting to show its paces, but it seemed rather younger today. Still almost purple-black in color, with an explosion of youthful fruit that scarcely shows its age. There is a tingling mineral freshness at the finish, while the tannins are fully absorbed in the richness of the fruit.
