Jesús Barquín:Ruby with ambering rim. First of the 20 Year Olds in tasting order (number 16 overall), and there is a perceptible jump in concentration, even more so because the last of the 10 Year Olds was particularly lean. Quince jelly, a hint of clove, the nose announces sweetness confirmed on the palate, intensely spiced finish. Very impressive, if a tad rustic, and surprisingly fruit-driven for a 20 Year Old. 91
Andrew Jefford:Clear, deep russet-amber. Initially enticing aromas, almost a mature-claret fruitiness, layered with Lusitanian spice and sweetness. Very attractive at first, but a little bit monotonous after a while—it doesn’t quite move and freshen in the glass. Deep, succulent, full, with the concentration of age bringing the wine plenty of depth and push. Perfectly satisfactory, though without the aromatic finesse of the best of its peers. 87
Richard Mayson:Mid-deep core, thin amber rim; distinctly rustic and rather disjointed on the nose; some rather baked, creamy fruit on the palate, with similarly rustic undertones and a disjointed finish. Disappointing. 75
