John Gilman: Château Batailley has produced a ripe and tannic 2010, with good complexity on both nose and palate but with the blurriness found in so many very ripe wines in this vintage also very much in evidence here. The bouquet is a ripe and ready blend of cassis, coffee, cigar smoke, dark soil tones, and lead pencil. On the palate, the wine is deep, full-bodied, and very ripe, with a fat core of fruit, firm tannins, and good balance on the long but slightly unfocused finish. 2018–40. 15.5
