Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: At the château, this wine is a marvel of balance and harmony while remaining quite powerful, with a perfectly delineated terroir. A great success; without doubt, the most perfect GPL of the past 50 years. A favorite. 19

Michael Schuster: Dense, refined, black-fruit-and-mineral nose; rich, elegant, beautifully proportioned middleweight claret, with a supple to fresh acidity and very fine gentle tannin; ripe in fruit; sweet, refined, mineral-scented, flowing, fleshy core flavor; supple, generous, understated class; long and subtle across the palate and with lovely, gently warm, gently spicy aromatic and mineral persistence. Not a hint of force or excess; graceful, complete, understated. 2017–35+. 17/17.5
