Michel Bettane: Pale color for the vintage, as with Doisy-Daëne; oak in evidence and pine and acacia from Barsac soil. Intense, tightly built, high in transformed alcohol, which will help for gastronomic use. Above Coutet in this vintage 17.5
Thierry Desseauve: Fine honey notes, delicacy and length, light body; fine and elegant but not a major vintage of the cru 17
Michael Schuster: Deep gold—an advanced color for the age? Very ripe in fruit, a touch of overripeness (raisin?) to smell, but also very Semillon waxy; rich, sweet, unctuous— particularly round and supple and fleshy for the vintage; seems to lack a bit of spark and complexity now but is long to taste, with a surprisingly “dry” impression on the finish. A bit foursquare for Climens? Good, but lacks projection and scope for a really top wine. Good light length. Drink 2016–30 16.5 /17
