Stephen Browett: Deep color with a little fade. Sweet, sexy nose. The palate has plenty of ripe black cherry fruit and it is very nicely polished, smooth and creamy. Not the depth and density of some wines in this flight, but a fine St-Julien nevertheless. The least good of the three Léovilles today, and perhaps slightly disappointing given the incredibly high standards of this Château. 15.5

Michael Schuster: Very dark, narrow-rimmed color; fine, scented, fruit and mineral nose; concentrated, vivid, muscularly tannic, a real sense of “Pauillac in St-Julien” in the style here; a vigorous, very chewy, long-term texture round a vivid blackcurrant Cabernet fruit; the severely tannic frame rather detracts from the fruit core and complexity of the wine, long across the palate, but also tough; good length. Future harmony? Will need at least 15 years. From 2020. 16.5
