Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Dumb nose. Quite rich, creamy, has considerable weight, and a dash of spicy oak. What it lacks is lift and drive, but it’s well put together, with some solid black fruits, and moderate acidity on the finish. Medium length. 15.5
Stephen Browett: Tasted immediately after the lovely Smith-Haut-Lafitte and not far behind it in quality. Classic cigar-box nose. Good depth of roasted, tarry, black fruit with a silky smooth body. Hints of licorice and spice. Very well put together—charming and supple but very much a Graves wine. Very good and certainly one of the best wines of the appellation this year. 16
Michael Schuster: Dark purple; ripe fruit and light “sweet” oak to smell; medium full, lightly, drily tannic, supple in acidity, almost astringent in texture; very dry, new oak wood marks a straightforward, but ripe fruited flavor, with good fruit persistence on the finish. Well made in the vintage, but always likely to be a slightly awkward balance. From 2012. 15.5
