BUY THE WINE

Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Light but bright black cherry fruit on nose. Fairly rich but soft and flabby. Pleasant fruit but lacks staying power and vigor. Essentially simple and not for cellaring. Fairly short, with a rather dry finish. 13.5

Stephen Browett: Creamy vanilla nose. Very supple and smooth on the palate with a velvety texture. Hints of coconut and candied fruit. Medium weight, already approachable, nicely polished. 14.5

Michael Schuster: Very dark red; mainly the “dry” smell of abundant new oak on the nose, and the taste reflects this, with a light ripe fruit completely in the “grip” of its new oak astringency, making for a wine that is tough and utterly charmless. 10?
