Stephen Brook: Very deep red, almost opaque. Dumb nose, inky, plummy. Rich, a bit sweet and Porty, and rather hollow. Shows some heat from the alcohol. The fruit here seems to have got out of hand, and the acidity is low, giving a rather short finish. An often underrated wine but this not one of their best efforts. 13
Michael Schuster: Very dark red; slightly high-toned, ripe black cherry fruited nose; good quality, very ripe fruit dried by a marked new wood tannin that pinches and shortens it; slightly “hot”, but essentially overwooded and therefore tough. 11.5
