BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane: Good color, ancient style; dry, acidic, tense, but not a lot of charm. I suspect underripe Cabernets! It will age, though. 14.5

Thierry Desseauve: A bit simple for a cru classé; correct flavors and body, with strong acidity and severe tannins. 14

Michael Schuster: Ripe, sweet, early cassis bouquet; nicely balanced, fresh, rich middleweight with plenty of fruit within its firm tannin; quite rich and flavorsome Margaux; nice length across the palate, lacking a point in finesse perhaps, but plenty of flavor; moderate complexity, good length. Will need a few years to mellow. 2014–24+. 15.5
