BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane: Good color, good integration of oak, medium body; carefully made, serious (as so often in young Léognan wines); needs 5–6 years in the bottle. 15.5

Thierry Desseauve: Dark and deep color, cedar aromas, full body with fine and ripe tannins; powerful, long finish. You can quietly wait for this wine—it will age perfectly 10 or 15 years. 17

Michael Schuster: Dense, fairly closed, but blackberry and oak vanilla emerge; very nicely balanced rich middleweight, with a fresh acidity and fine tannin; one of few that one can describe as “fleshy” in this vintage in this commune; as on the nose, plenty of ripe blackberry fruit, plump and nicely prolonged within its fine, still firm tannin; sapid and satisfying, and with excellent, gently aromatic length. A great success in its league and the vintage context. Its richness means it will be accessible relatively early, but it will give much more satisfaction with a few more years in bottle. 2012–24+. 16.5
