Andrew Jefford: Dark, saturated black-red. Broodingly earthy and lush, with some savory complexities as well as the ripe black fruits: promising. Ripe, smooth, deep, mouth-filling, and dense, with black fruits, tobacco, plant sap, and moist licorice. Such tannins as there are, very fine-grained; no trace of any unripeness. Not exactly low-acid, however; the acid is lying beneath the fruit at present, but it will emerge. A true Pomerol pleasure; an excellent Montviel—for the mid-term. 2018–26. 91
Michael Schuster: Sweetly ripe Merlot to smell; full, firmly tannic; sweet in fruit flavor, modest in complexity, somewhat new-oak dried in tannin texture, but fleshy and ripe within the dry tannins, and with good, warm, length. Good wine, but I wish there weren’t as much new wood. 2022–30. 88
