BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Wonderfully fresh fruit with lovely notes of dark chocolate. A concentrated wine, deep and tight, with impressive length—built to go the distance. 17.5

Michael Schuster: Black-purple; intense nose of ripe blackberry and cassis; a superb balance—rich, generous, velvety wine with fine, firm tannin; wonderfully compact, with a striking charge of exotically spiced sweet, mineral-backed, dark fruit—fleshy, close-wrought, long, complex, freshly vibrant. And yet for all the excitement, this remains remarkably elegant, beautifully defined, and with wonderful length. An effortlessly creamy, great Pomerol. Will probably harden up in bottle—but what promise! 2010–35+. 18.5/19+
