Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Rich, warm, cherry, and plum aromas, with a touch of mint and licorice. Discreet but very elegant nose. Pure silk, very refined, with the texture and lift making more of an immediate impact than the fruit quality, which of course is very fine. Beautifully poised, and although all the elements seem in place, it’s not yet showing any secondary characters so seems to lack some complexity. But clearly this needs time and should age very well. 18.5
Andrew Jefford: Deep red-black. Aromatically quiet but harmonious, with dark plum and cherry fruit lurking in the shadows. Restrained but correct. Broad and full here, with ample, fine-grained tannins, fresh but ripe cherry-plum fruits, and a little finishing oak spice adding up to a seamless, balanced, discreetly satisfying whole. Controlled, reserved, but very impressive for the vintage, with fine textural wealth and inner succulence. Excellent, fleshy complexity lingers into the aftertaste. An outstanding effort. 17
Michael Schuster: An abundance of fruit on the nose, but still fairly closed; rich, firm, fleshy, and finely tannic; a fine Pomerol constitution without being particularly grand scale; long, close-grained, sappy, mineral-backed flavor, lovely, sweetly ripe fruit, but freshness and gentle sinew as well; long, complex, well-sustained, mouth-fillingly savory palate, with excellent aromatic length; complete, even, harmonious; a very fine, medium-term Trotanoy. 2015–30. 18
