Alex Hunt: An advanced tawny color and a vigorous nose of citrus peel and bonfire—this makes a strong first impression! The palate is intense, uncompromising, and almost savory in its bitter-caramel flavor yet is magically lifted by that lemon-lime streak. Pretty thrilling stuff - 17.5
Andrew Jefford: Mid-coppery russet. Tangy and full, though with some of that cellar dryness present in the aromas, giving the profile a slight flatness. On the palate, by contrast, this is concentrated and dramatically balanced, with a great cascade of citrussy acidity, some oxidative complexities, and medium levels of fruit sweetness that combine apple and stone fruit with a little banana and pineapple. Exciting wine, in sum; if only the aromatic profile were a little more seductive, it would unhook a top score - 16
Mark Savage: Deeper amber color; rather fading fruit on the nose suggesting dying rose petals and tea leaves, also ripe white peaches, but the flavors are remarkably alive still, if rather decadent in character; and the wine is intriguing and highly original with good length, if showing signs of some fragility. There is subtlety here rather than power or simple richness - 18
