Alex Hunt: Really open, vivid peach/apricot aromas, with a smack of mossy botrytis. There’s plenty of power on the palate, which uses some nice, tangy bitter-orange flavors as a bridge between sweetness and acidity. Long to finish, and a long life ahead of it—this is still in a very youthful phase - 17
Andrew Jefford: Deep, full, burnished gold. This is another wine in which a little Muscat seems to play an aromatic role: it’s tangy and citrussy, with a little lupin, lavender, and broom flower in it. The longer the wine sits in the glass, the more forthcoming this floral spectrum of aromas seems to be. On the palate, this is very concentrated and dense, with a splendid spectrum of fruit and flower notes: russet apple, Cox’s Orange Pippin, lemon, pineapple, peach, and more of that faint lavender and broom, too. Stunningly fruity, ripe acidity; great elegance and finesse. A remarkably pure, pristine, and finely detailed Tokaji. There are hours of meditative discussion for Tokaji-philes here, and it’s another wine that, I admit, I am taking a little surreptitious sip of as I taste - 18
Mark Savage: Deeper amber color here, though not as dark as [Szepsy Tokaji Aszú 6 Puttonyos 2006]. This somehow smells and then tastes rather oily, and that oil has not been perfectly refined. It gives a certain streak of individuality but at the expense of finesse - 15
