Alex Hunt: Deep-amber colored and richly raisined on the nose. This is very sweet and rather syrupy; yes, the acidity holds the sugar in check, and there is a burned-orange bitterness that helps offset the density of fruit. This is impressive wine, but like some TBAs, it is too sweet and intense to bring a great deal of conventional pleasure - 16.5
Andrew Jefford: Another russet-amber wine, and another lower-alcohol wine, too. In contrast with [Royal Tokaji Tokaji Aszú 6 Puttonyos Mézes Mály 2005], the leafy oxidative notes here are subtle, restrained, genuinely complexing; there is also butter, and barley sugar, and walnuts, and pineapple tarte tatin. A fine aromatic spectrum. Vivid, deep, lively, autumnal; here it’s a more classic mix of baked-apple compote, apricots, than pineapple tarte tatin, with some mouthwatering umami to mingle with the mouthwatering acidity. The sweetness, thus, is totally resolved and balanced. Despite the lower alcohol, this is a relatively thick and mouth-coating wine. I challenge anyone not to sip this bottle to the last drop. Splendid - 17
Mark Savage: A deep color; a strong concentration: boiled sweets and dark honey, slightly cloying. Low alcohol but also perhaps quite low acidity, so it lacks a little freshness. Very attractive but not exactly racy - 14.5
