Alex Hunt: Quite an austere nose within the context of sweet wine, showing more herbal, straw, and citrus aromas than overt fruit. The palate continues this sense of elegance and reserve: It is very clean, not too sweet, neatly balanced, and has just enough savory complexity to match the overall style - 16
Andrew Jefford: Full, bright lemon-gold. A little dry, restrained and cardboardy, frankly, without the allusive fruits you expect. On the palate, too, this goes through the motions but lacks richness, freshness, and allusive fruit power. A pleasant drink but without the nobility that should attend the Tokaji name - 12
Mark Savage: Attractive green-gold color is full of promise. On the nose, the initial attack is not so much of fruit or honey as steel and some woodsmoke, probably from the cask. The palate is as intriguing as the nose promised, and further bottle age can only reveal more depth of character. There is more to this wine than facile fruit and sweetness. It has a sense of authority and of place. Not much botrytis evident, but I find this the most individual and interesting wine in this flight with the greatest promise. It stands out, and some might like it less as a result or find it somehow atypical and controversial. I think it will be a wine to watch with interest. The other wines in the group have either arrived or one can see where they are heading, but here there is a sense of the unknown, even mystery - 17
