Alex Hunt: There is a definite impression of wood on the nose here, and this seems to be holding back the aromas. The initial palate is appropriately luscious and full-flavored, and there is a nice bulge of sweetness in the middle, but that woody dryness does return on the finish. Worth revisiting in a couple of years, but this wine may always have a slightly incongruous edge of austerity - 16
Andrew Jefford: Deep, rich gold. Scents of mushroom, cladosporium, and the cellar, somehow. A little bit subterranean and fusty. On the palate, it’s another acidic 6 putts, lightly fleshed, lemony, green-appley, bracing. The acidity, of course, is wonderfully fruity, rounded yet rousing. Very pure and pristine. A glass would be wonderful as you played out a hand or two of bridge, yet I can’t honestly claim that it is one of the best wines in the tasting - 13
Mark Savage: More similarities in color (paler amber) with [Château Dereszla Tokaji Aszú 6 Puttonyos 2006] and also in style, though it seems a shade less precise and clean, a little more rustic, and there is a slight whiff of rubber. It is not at all unpleasant, but it lacks a little class and finesse, I feel. It is close to [Château Dereszla Tokaji Aszú 6 Puttonyos 2006] in character, and it seems a shame not to give it the same score somehow, but… there it is. On another day, in a different tasting sequence, who knows? 16.5
