BUY THE WINE

Alex Hunt: Hard to rate this one. It’s a dense, structured wine, with good fruit purity and length. But is it Fleurie? Is it even Beaujolais? Within the context of its peers, it could easily be a Santenay or something, with its plump cherry-blackberry fruit and smoky oak. How much pleasure you derive from this will depend on how much you value sense of place versus pure sensory appeal. 86

Andrew Jefford: Dark purple-red. Fermenty sweet scents, with some grassiness here, but not unattractive. On the palate, too, this is still in a youthful state and with a little hurly-burly to it, but it’s a vivid, richly constituted wine that slops and spills with sour fruits and may look better in a year or two. 90

Peter Liem: This is simple and straightforward, thriving on its ripe fruit flavors. It’s appealing to drink without feeling very serious. 81
