Nicolas Belfrage: Deep, almost opaque. Attractive cherry fruit on nose. Quite creamy fruity palate with adequate if not exciting acidity and correct tannins. Makes it sound plebeian, but it’s not; it has an impressive togetherness that stands it in good stead. Not great, but very good. 16
Stephen Brook: Sweet intense cherry-and-vanilla nose. Medium-bodied and has intensity rather than weight. Very ripe fruit gives a touch of sweetness, but it’s acceptable and not jammy. Seems a bit one-dimensional at present, but there’s admirable concentration, and this will surely develop more complexity and refinement with time. 17
Andrew Jefford: Deep clear red. An attractive refined curranty warmth here. Graceful and subtle. Cream, mint, herbs, resins, warm bark. Here the subtlety apparent on the aromas fails to materialize. This is, in fact, rather a strange, sweet-and-sour wine whose flavors, while texturally subtle, are a little obvious and oddly unclassical. I sense that a lot of winemaking effort has gone into this, yet the raw materials hadn’t been grown or harvested with the requisite care. 12
