Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: A distant cry from the exacerbated suaveness of the decade’s early vintages, Le Pin 2010 exudes heady perfumes, yet in a fresh style, floral and subtle, developing comfortable and elegant roundness with no heaviness. 19
John Gilman: Le Pin is a bit lower in alcohol in 2010 than many of the other top estates in Pomerol: This vintage produced a wine at 14.2% ABV. But this is in contrast to the 2009 Le Pin, which weighed in at 13.5%, so we are still talking a fairly significant step up in ripeness for the 2010. The nose is deep, ripe, and very well balanced, offering up scents of black cherries, dark plums, chocolate, a touch of balsam bough, lovely soil tones, and plenty of stylish new oak. On the palate, the wine is deep, full-bodied, and really well balanced for its octane, with fine mid-palate depth, ripe tannins, good acids, and fine length and grip on the nascently complex finish. A very fine example of the vintage. 2019–45+. 18.5
